Welcome to James A. Long Elementary School—Home of the Lions!

It is my pleasure to welcome you to our James A. Long Elementary family! My name is Joni Burnett, and I am honored to serve as one of the Assistant Principals of this incredible school community.

At James A. Long Elementary, our mission is to ensure every Lion is challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their fullest potential. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where students grow academically, socially, and emotionally while developing the confidence and character needed for lifelong success.

We know that our greatest achievements happen when families and educators work together. Your partnership is invaluable, and we are committed to fostering open communication, mutual respect, and meaningful collaboration throughout the school year. Hello Lions, we have a very exciting school year ahead! I am Kristie Meyer and this will be my 10th year in the Putnam County School District. Last year I began my journey as Assistant Principal at Moseley Elementary and I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to join the staff, students, and families of James A. Long Elementary this year! 

Long ago, I crossed over from a career in Corporate America to being a parent volunteer and PTO Treasurer which led to me becoming a teacher. I taught in K-6 prior to becoming a K-12 district New Teacher Mentor, and now Assistant Principal. I look forward to learning and growing this school year together!
